Religion: Does God Really Have The Right To Build His Church And Set His Standard?

Almost all of us was born with a religion or grew up having a religion. But more ends up without a religion. In our time, where new technology released every month and knowledge increases, we learned to think independently. We use our analytic and research capability, which is called Science, and learn to conclude things. As time goes by, along with Science, we also developed our reasoning. And with this, we become brave to stray and break traditions as we proved majority of these traditions, myths and legends are groundless.

But man doesn’t realize that his knowledge and wisdom has limits, and with this limitation, he cannot be able to put conclusion in all subject, including God. Man, in his fast-paced knowledge, even tries to be god-like not only on reasoning but on state as well. We also try to mimic God’s creating power by cloning His creation. We always like to play God, inheriting this trait from our parents Adam and Eve. They committed the first sin hoping they would be like God also. This is where Lucifer fell too, the desire to be like God. And now, we are following their footsteps. We listen to the devil when he say that we, too, can be like god, with our advanced knowledge and technologies and gaining self enlightenment. We also try to level God’s thinking and wisdom, and try to comprehend His will and nature in a malicious way and with pride.

The problem here is that our judgment relies on our five senses and in feeling or emotion. Science’s definition of ‘real’ confines only within man’s five senses. They dismiss anything that “eyes have not seen and ears not heard.” (But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. – 1 Corinthians 2:9)

On the other hand, we use our emotion to judge anything spiritual. If we ‘feel’ it isn’t right or if we’re uncomfortable with it, we declare it as wrong. We often seek this feeling of ‘holiness’ and false joy, without seeking the Truth. (The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? – Jeremiah 17:9). Do you still remember how many times have you been betrayed by your heart? Yes, to err is human. That is why we should not rely deeply on ourselves and accept that we need a Guidance.

“Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men” – Philippians 2:6-7

This is where the Son of Man, and the Son of God different from the rest. Although He professed directly to be the Son of God, He materialized as an ordinary man and took the form of a servant, which both were not done by other prophets. Although there are some of church leaders today that are self-professed son of God, they act though as a son of a king or princes, living as a master and in richness in which opposed to what Jesus did.

“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” – John 3:19

Man chooses not to listen to God, despite that we were given a guide and rules on how to live rightfully. We choose to listen to ourselves rather than listen to the All-knowing.

This also works in following Jesus and Salvation. If one wants to follow Jesus, one of the required traits would be humility. This is same for Christian Salvation. Christian Salvation is through Jesus alone. Without believing in Jesus, there would be no salvation. Unlike in other religion, man can attain salvation or god-like status through self-effort. This summarizes in words like, self-enlightenment, self-fulfillment, it is all ‘self’. Christianity has selfless doctrine. This show in the summary of the Ten Commandments; Love God with all your heart and Love your neighbor as you love yourself. The Christian salvation is a gift, not through good works (self-effort) (For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. – Ephesians 2:8-9) As I understand, there is no room for self in Christianity. Man, in his selfish nature, doesn’t want to accept this.

Modern men, with his modern, newly acquired knowledge and reasoning, now considers religion as dogmas, or man’s own standards. He chooses his own way of understanding god. The problem here is man can never understand and reach the level of the status of the Being he’s trying to conceptualize without the help of this Being, without the Being’s self-revelation to those who seek.

And with this conceptualization based on their own reasoning, they make their own meaning of God. They say that a loving God can’t create hell and put man in there for punishment (Jesus Himself has spoken a lot about hell) They say God has unlimited understanding that He allows man to choose his own way of worship because God looks into the heart of every man (God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. – John 4:24, Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. – Exodus 20:4). Sometimes, man conceives God to fit into their own desire and comfort. This also happens in choosing churches. They say they search for the Truth but the truth is that they search for their own convenience.

Man doesn’t want to called sinner. He can’t accept that he needs a savior to get save or to get to heaven. (For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord – Romans 6:23).He can approach or come close to God by himself only or with the help of other saints (I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. – John 14:6).

Let me ask something for a moment, since God created everything, didn’t He have the right to put measures and standards on everything, such as the way He wants us to worship Him, the way we call unto Him, the amount of time we spend with Him, the way we do things to glorify Him, didn’t He have the right to choose the people and build a church and standard so that man can follow and be able to know how to please Him?
