Misrepresentation: How Worse It Can Be?

I want to express my disappointment every time Christianity is represented by Catholicism. I think that Christianity is unfairly represented because not only Catholicism has several doctrines that are not in the bible or not Christian teachings, but they even counteract the doctrines of Jesus Christ.

One good example is the blessed virgin Mary or Mother Mary. It is against the teachings of God to worship other God except Him and Jesus (Exodus 20:2-6). And why we should call her Mother when her own son Jesus calls her ‘woman’ (John 19:26). I’m not saying we should also call her ‘woman’. But Mary is not recognized properly. We should respect her as a woman of God and because of her obedience to God, not being a god or a mother of god. There’s nowhere in the bible that she is called the mother of god. I’m sure Mary wouldn’t like it either how Catholics treat her.

This is not to destroy the reputation of Catholicism. This is just to clear that Christianity is different and must not be represented by Catholicism. This must offend lots of Catholics but the truth must be told (and how many times that the truth has been told to them?). I’m just requesting that you must study the bible to know and understand what Christianity really is.

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. – Matthew 7:20-23

The time will come that Jesus will speak these words to the people who professed that they are Christians but rejected His doctrines.

Here are the Catholic doctrines that contradict Jesus’ teachings:

Images Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me – Exodus 20:3-6

Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the Lord your God. – Leviticus 19:4

I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. – Isaiah 42:8

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device. – Acts 17:29

Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the Lord your God. – Leviticus 26:1

Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save. – Isaiah 45:20

And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk. – Revelation 9:20

And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. – Romans 1:23

And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands. – Jeremiah 1:16

They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he standeth; from his place shall he not remove: yea, one shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor save him out of his trouble. – Isaiah 46:7

For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. – Jeremiah 10:3-5

Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine hands. – Micah 5:13

Cursed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the Lord, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen. – Deuteronomy 27:15

The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not; They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths. They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them. – Psalm 135:15-18

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. – John 4:24

The rosary

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. – Matthew 6:7-8

Priests

And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. – Matthew 23:9

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. – 1 Timothy 2:5

Mother Mary

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. – 1 Timothy 2:5

And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said,Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. – Luke 11:27-28

I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. – John 14:6

Catholic Saints

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. – 1 Timothy 2:5

I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. – John 14:6

Peter as the first Pope

Apostle Paul is the apostle for Gentiles or non-Jewish. Romans are not Jewish. The book of Romans in the bible is Paul’s letters to the Christians in Rome. There nowhere to be found in the bible that Peter reached Rome.

Prayer for the dead

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. – Hebrews 9:27

For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks? – Psalm 6:5

Baptism of infants

The person must hear and believe the word of God first before baptized:

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. – Mark 16:15-16

But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized – Acts 8:12-13

The person must believe and receive Christ first before baptized:

And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. – Acts 8:36-38

Baptism means immersion into water, not sprinkling. Every baptism in the bible was done by immersion.

Three Kings

The bible refers to them as Magis or Wise men, not three kings.

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem. – Matthew 2:1

Salvation through good works

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. – Romans 3:28-30

But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. – Romans 4:5

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. – Romans 5:1

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. – Romans 10:4

And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. – Romans 11:6

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. – Galatians 2:16

I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. – Galatians 2:21

He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. – Galatians 3:5-6

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. – Galatians 3:24

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. – Ephesians 2:8-9

And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith. – Philippians 3:9

Purgatory

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. – Hebrews 9:27

Mary remained a virgin

While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. – Matthew 23:46

Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? – Matthew 13:55-56

After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days. – John 2:12

His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judæa, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world. For neither did his brethren believe in him. Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready. The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. – John 7:3-7

And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. – Acts 1:13-14

Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days. But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord’s brother. – Galatians 1:18-19

Here are other Catholic doctrines that are not found in the bible:

  • The Confession of sins to the priest
  • Mary as the mother of God, therefore, a God.
  • The celibacy of priesthood or priests not marrying.
  • The Holy water
  • The seven sacraments
  • The Mass

There are other things that Christianity is connecting to Catholicism such as the choosing of the books of the bible. We are informed that the books of the bible are compiled by Catholic priests, which gave them the authority over Christianity. I will discuss this topic soon.

What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it. – Deuteronomy 12:32
