Creation of Adam

Eternal Existence

The Creation of Adam

The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo

I just wrote about a hypothetical question asking ‘What if God doesn’t exists?’. I provided an answer stating that I would be a totally different or opposite person from who I am now. Or I would be what I truly am. Not necessarily a sinner, but a total selfish.

I want to give another answer to the question, facing another side or perspective.

The question ‘What if God doesn’t exist?’ is like a bread asking if a baker exists, or a pot asking if a potter exists. While they’re asking this question, I’m imagining that these work of crafts are thinking that they are a product of random chance or activity. A bread is a product of random mix by nature and turned her into a delicious bread. A beautiful work of art like a pot is a product of catastrophic event; a melted rock or clay formed by nature’s random chance or activity turned it into an elegant and artistic designed pottery.

After answering the question in which I featured my selfish nature, I realized that the question is senseless as well as my answer. On the first thought, the question could produce several answers. I was thinking of an answer like: “If God doesn’t exist, there would be nothing. Since everything comes from God, nothing will exist if God doesn’t exist.” But if thinking deeper, my answer turned into: “it is impossible for God not to exist.”

God is impossible not to exist

It is not possible for God not to exist because He is self sufficient. He is that He is (Exodus 3:14). He is everlasting. He has no beginning and end. Some people might not accept it especially those who don’t believe in God and think that such being is impossible to exist. But for me, it is the ultimate faith for all Christians. To have faith in something that we cannot comprehend.

God is much too big for our understanding. He is the one bigger than life itself. From our understanding, our minds may accept the eternal life ahead but not the eternal existence from the past. For us, everything must have started from somewhere. Who made us? Who made God? Who made them that made God?

Our mind and understanding is so limited that it consider the things that it cannot comprehend as impossible. And yet, we act as gods.

Because God has given us a little understanding and the ability to analyze and create, to direct our own path, to make our own decision, we considered ourselves as masters of our own and rejected the notion of a Higher Power, just because He is inconceivable.

We considered Him as mystical, old fashioned belief, magic, and irrelevant to our ‘progressed’ generation.

We think that it is time to leave the old fashioned beliefs behind and time to recognize the ability of man to play god through our modern technologies and knowledge.

Science declared that the universe started from nothing or total darkness. This fact can be read in the bible (Genesis 1:2). Everything that science discovers are already written in the bible, thousands of years ahead. And yet we think that not believing in God and leaving the old fashioned mystic belief is a sign of a thinking and rational mind.

Bread and pots cannot speak and think for itself and cannot ask questions whether or not their maker exists. We can think and decide for ourselves because we have an intelligent Maker. But because we choose to walk on our own, we became fools to ask if God exists.

We not comprehend His nature and completely know Him, but He gave us journals, signs, and messengers, to make Himself known to us. Those who have faith in Him will have the eternity to know and learn about Him.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.” – Psalms 19:1-6

“By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect. The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.” – Psalms 33:6-12
